The son of a retired pediatrician, Dr. Sandeep R. Pandit may have been raised in New England, but his love of country and the pursuit of professional knowledge have taken him to multiple points both domestic and international. From this background of commitment and honor, Dr. Pandit brings his knowledge and experience in reconstruction and arthroplasty of adult hip and knee joints to Crovetti Orthopaedics.

Shortly after receiving his undergraduate degree with honors at Brandeis University in Massachusetts – in fact, just after 9/11 – Dr. Pandit made the decision to combine his career goals with his patriotism by enlisting in the United States Navy – and over the following four years things got pretty busy. Not only did he complete his M.D. and Orthopaedic Surgery Internship while in service, but during his active duty as a United States Naval Flight Surgeon, he also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the USMC Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward).

After separating from the military, he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Northwell Health-Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York, and was subsequently honored to accept a Fellowship at UC San Diego Medical Center in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction.

“The Art of Surgery.” That’s exactly how Dr. Pandit sees his profession. It’s not simply work that’s done by the book. It’s a matter of truly listening to each patient, seeking the absolute optimum solution, and executing with precision yet always being prepared for the unexpected. In fact, accomplishing the most successful outcome possible for a patient is one of the reasons he chose Orthopaedics. Being able to be a part of improving the quality of someone’s life, and seeing it happen in real time – that’s about as rewarding as it gets.

A recent Las Vegas valley transplant with his wife Vanessa and 8 pound Yorkie named Loki, Dr. Pandit enjoys travel, food, and exploring his surroundings. An avid reader interested in topics from military history to science fiction, he enjoys novels and current events, but most of all, keeping ahead of the curve with medical journals and discoveries. Asked what his favorite television show was, he said he didn’t watch TV much, but at the top of the list would be Law & Order: SVU. In fact, if he hadn’t been a surgeon, he probably would have gone into law enforcement, because he loves the investigation – finding the answers. Now that’s the type of surgeon you want on your side.
